I Was Called for Jury Duty
It's one of those inevitable things that happens when you're an upstanding, law-abiding, taxpaying citizen of the community (insert guffaws here). You get a card in the mail that says you've been selected to serve jury duty.
I've gotten one of these before and when I went in, the roomful of prospective jurors was sent home when the defendant decided to plead guilty at the last minute, so alas, no jury duty.
This time, I was really hoping to be interviewed as a prospective juror, just so I could randomly stand up and yell "objection, counsel is badgering the witness." I guess I've watched too many courtroom dramas. As it turns out, jury duty was canceled. While I was thinking about the possibilities, I remembered a scene from one of my favorite movies of all time "Kentucky Fried Movie," which I highly recommend.
