I don't want to speak for everybody, but I feel like the vast majority of folks would welcome a Buc-ee's with open arms. This town is saying SCRAM!

Buc-ee's First North Carolina Location is a Headache

I want you to imagine any town in Texas announcing that a Buc-ee's would be moving in. Everyone in town would be excited I would imagine. Well let's go to Loserville...excuse me. Melbane, North Carolina who have a bunch of Negative Nancys that don't want Buc-ee's moving in.

This Meeting Lasted Until 2AM

I kid you not. The Melbane City Council had so many people complaining last night about Buc-ee's moving in that the meeting lasted eight hours and went until two in the morning. Don't get me wrong, some folks want the Buc-ee's in town. I would say the majority of folks were complaining about the proposed Buc-ee's being built. Here are some complaints, I will add my commentary in bold.

Highlights from Buc-ee's Complaints

"I think it's just going to cause me to be waiting at stoplights more and more. More than I currently do. More than I want to." I imagine this person's day is ruined with every red light they hit.

"Why does anyone need 120 gas pumps? Seriously ... there's already gas stations along this highway." On a big travel weekend, you will want those 120 gas pumps.

"We don't need this here in Mebane. I’m here for our town because I don’t think we need 500 cars per hour bringing their exhaust, and environmental health exposures, into our city." People are probably already driving by your city as is. Might as well make your city a must stop destination and bring some money in.

City Council Unanimously Approved Buc-ee's First Location in North Carolina

If I were Buc-ee's, I would have told North Carolina to f*** off. No one in Texas is complaining when you build a Buc-ee's. I say scrap the plan in lame ass Melbane and move this to Wichita Falls, Texas. Looks the complaints didn't sway the city council. This Buc-ee's will be built. No word on when construction will start and I assume the complaints will come up for that as well.
