While the past year has been really hard on all of us in many different ways, the city of Victoria knows there are families and individuals still feeling the effects of the pandemic and are spreading the word about rent assistance.

The city's development services program has received funds from Texas Emergency Rental Assistance which is meant specifically for those who are falling behind on what is due each month. These individuals might be someone who lives just down the street, up upstairs in your apartment building, or it may even be you or me. Here is a chance to apply for some assistance based on a few conditions that we will review below.

Apply for Assistance from the Texas Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Rental assistance is available on a first-come-first-served basis and is meant for those who are already behind on rent. If you qualify, rent will be paid directly to your landlord.

Eligability Requirements

1) TexasRentRelief.com explains that applicants must be able to prove they are enduring a financial hardship specifically due to the coronavirus pandemic.

2) Your household must fall below 80% of Victoria's median family income.

3) The third condition is that you have no already received assistance from a COVID-19 relief program already offered by the City of Victoria. As discussed in a story shared by Crossroadstoday.com, Don Brubaker brought up that if in 2020 you received assistance from Victoria's Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program, then you will not be eligible now for these benefits.
