Victoria County is starting to see another increase in COVID-19 cases according to Victoria County Health Department Director, David Gonzales.

You can see the latest round of data from April 15 on the Victoria County Covid-19 dashboard here. In the first two weeks of April, new cases have claimed from 98 cases on April 1st to near 150 by April 13th. This comes after Victoria saw COVID-19 numbers decrease in February and March.

In a story shared by Cristian Delgado with Crossroadstoday.com, Gonzales says "you’re gonna see those case counts go up just when you see that transmission happen a lot within household scenarios from both spring break and the Easter holiday as well."

After what seemed like a significant wait, I was finally able to get on the waiting list for a vaccine over at the Victoria Community Center. You can get onto the waiting list by visiting http://www.victoriawaitlist.com/. I remember signing up on the waitlist back in March. The process is pretty simple, and I think it took about two and a half weeks before the text notification arrived that it was my turn to schedule an appointment. I was given a range of dates and times to select from which made it easier to select a time to head over to the community center. You'll want to make note of the fact that the shots are happening at the Community Center. I noticed that when they sent me my QR code for the shot, they did not include the location that the vaccine is being administered at in the notification. I ended up in the wrong location and had to run over to the community center to make my appointment, so fair warning, go to the community center once your appointment has been confirmed.

While I was there, I saw about half a dozen people in line. I think it took less than 5 minutes from the time I parked until I had been given the first shot and was off to the waiting room for the 15 minute observation period. This was by far a somewhat nervous moment for some. Bring your phone and talk to someone while you wait, or enjoy meeting someone in the waiting room with you. EMTs were on had in the dome standing right next to a stretcher in the event someone in the waiting area has a reaction. It's good to know they are right there to help if needed, but also a little unsettling.

A thankful shout-out to the staff working on the vaccine distribution. Everyone was very kind and wants to make sure you are ok with the process. It was nice to see them there to answer questions, or just to offer a smile and a little comfort during a difficult process.

While much is still unknown about the coronavirus and the future, what is known is that the currently available vaccines have gone through all three trial phases and are safe and effective. It will be necessary for as many Americans as possible to be vaccinated in order to finally return to some level of pre-pandemic normalcy, and hopefully these 30 answers provided here will help readers get vaccinated as soon they are able.
