Victoria to Offer Covid-19 Vaccine by Appointment on Tuesdays

After a couple of months of offering a COVID-19 "waitlist", the city of Victoria will now offer vaccination by appointment without the wait.

Today is the first day that the Victoria County Public Health Department will be moving away from a waitlist and will now switch to direct scheduling appointments. These appointments will be offered on Tuesdays according to information shared by both Crossroadstoday.com and the Victoria Advocate.

Waitlist vs Direct Scheduling

Back in April when I signed up for the waitlist, I had read that it could be two to three weeks before a notification would come over letting you set up an appointment. This turned out not to be the case. I believe that I received a notification about 1 week after signing up for the process. Then I got to drive over to the community center to receive shot number 1. By mid-May I got my second notification to head back to the dome for another round.

The June 4th update bypasses all of that. Now you will pick a time on a Tuesday and they'll give you the next available window to select from. The vaccine being offered is from Moderna. You can visit www.vcphd.org

What if Tuesday Doesn't Work?

If the Tuesday option isn't one that can work with your schedule you can always head over to www.vaccines.gov and use their vaccine finder tool to locate another option. This tool may give you more options if you have a preferred type of vaccine you would like to get (Pfizer or J&J, etc).

Whichever route you go, be prepared to rest for a couple of days after your second shot. Some folks have no side effects, but I know my own experience lasted about 4 days after the shot. I'm happy to be vaccinated and even happier it's behind me.
