Some Pretty Cool Things About Victoria That You May Not Know
Okay, so Victoria is not a huge metroplex. We get that but, there are some pretty cool things about our fair city that give it a notch or two up on the cool factor that you may not be aware of. According to the Matador Network, we have some things we can be proud of.
1. We have some pretty good barbecue.
We've got the Great Coastal Texas Barbecue Trail, considered by many to be the best in the nation.
2. We've got the Victoria Texas Independent Film Festival.
After six years, the festival was touted by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the top 50.
3. Bootfest
Six years of the 2-day festival has brought some of the very best in Texas music to town to play for free. Plus, all the other events that happen that weekend, like a huge car show and much more.
4. Club Westerner
This dance hall has been around an awfully long time, and in fact, legends like Willie Nelson and Fats Domino have played there. I'll add Schroeder Hall to this list because even though it's not in Victoria proper, it's right next door, and some real legends have played there as well.
5. Historical Places
Did you know that there are 115 buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places? Neither did I.
This is just a sampling of the list, which you can read in its entirety here. So, while some people may complain that there's nothing to do in Victoria, there really is a lot going on.
