Victoria Police were out in force yesterday (pun intended) at a couple of checkpoints around town.  The first, was set up on Ben Wilson and the second on Ben Jordan a couple of hours later.

Police say they were screening drivers for compliance meaning they were checking for valid licenses and up to date insurance coverage.

Police screened 493 motorists using the checkpoints, giving 13 citations, 18 verbal warnings and one arrest for driving with an invalid license and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

No word on whether they plan any more checkpoints in the future but just a heads up.  You might want to make sure you're legal before hitting the roads this summer.  For the sake of everyone please....do so immediately.
