Many people have begun to accept the adjustments in their daily life, due to COVID-19, as the new normal. However, as normal as mask requirements and habitual handwashing and sanitizing may seem, it is important to remember that COVID-19 is still lingering around, and there is still no definitive treatment plan identified.

Here in our very own county, there are still cases popping up. In a recent article from Crossroads today, it was reported that as of 10/3/2020, there had been four new cases and 70 active cases in total. While many of our residents have been fortunate enough to recover and go back to their everyday life, it is essential to remember that there have been a total of 94 deaths due to this virus in our very own city.

There is still a mandatory order requiring masks in place, so it is crucial to abide by this mandate. The CDC offers some mask-wearing tips to ensure the most efficient way of protecting not only yourself but also others.

  • Wear masks with two or more layers to stop the spread of COVID-19
  • Wear the mask over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin
  • Masks should be worn by people two years and older

There are, of course, exceptions to this order, which include:

  • Masks should NOT be worn by children younger than two,
  • People who have trouble breathing or
  • People who cannot remove the mask without assistance

An important message to note is that the CDC does not recommend using the gator masks and face shields due to the limited information regarding their effectiveness.
