Houston Hospital Offers Employees $500 for Vaccination
How do you feel about getting one of the many COVID-19 vaccines? Down here at the radio station your hometown DJs all have their own opinion, but at the end of the day, we all want each other and our listeners to be healthy and safe.
ABC13.com reports that Houston Methodist Hospital is now offering $500 to its employees initially as a "Thank You" for their service during the pandemic. Health Care Workers who get the COVID-19 vaccination will be offered the $500 payment from Houston Methodist. Casually, the President and CEO of Houston Methodist Dr. Marc Boom said that the vaccine will "eventually" be a mandatory requirement for all workers. What about the employees who do not feel confident or safe? This is a question that will be a big one in 2021.
Boom told ABC13.com, "We recognize the vital importance of all of us getting vaccinated to protect our patients, our community, ourselves, and our family and friends. Further discussion is ongoing about the small number of employees who cannot safely get the vaccine." The city of Houston is reporting a COVID-19 positivity rate of 13.9%.
According to the city of Houston's health department, the city's COVID-19 positivity rate is the highest it's been since its peak in July at 13.9%.
