Houston Texans Dramatic Comeback Spoiled by Last-Second Field Goal
The Houston Texans got off to a good start in their Monday Night Football season opener, but they found a way to snatch defeat from victory in the last seconds allowing the New Orleans Saints enough time to win with a field goal.
Despite the fact that the Texans offensive line didn't give quarterback Deshaun Watson enough protection overall, he was able to engineer some pretty good drives including a 75-yard drive in the final minute of the game capped off with a 37-yard TD to former Saint Kenny Stills. The problem is that they then left Saints quarterback Drew Brees too much time on the clock.
Sure enough, Brees managed to take advantage of the Texan's non-existent pass defense and drive the Saints to what was the game-winning 58-yard field goal by Wil Lutz and the Texans fell 30-28.
It was a game we should have won, and it showed what work still needs to be done to improve.
They'll have the chance on Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars come to town. Game time is 12:00 noon, pregame begins at 11:30 am on KLUB Classic Rock 106.9.
