Homelessness is a growing problem in cities across the nation and in many communities, officials are working to find solutions. Here in Victoria, part of the solution is a community of tiny homes just outside the city being put together by a nonprofit group called Promise Pointe.

The project is located off US 59 just a few miles outside Victoria near Raisin, and it is modeled after a similar community in Austin called Community First!, and is expected to house around 20 residents living in tiny homes that will share a community kitchen and bathroom along with a garden and chicken coop.

Promise Pointe is working with the Homeless Coalition, Mid Coast Family Services and Perpetual Help Home, and plans to also include community 'micro-enterprises' that could include growing and selling produce and eggs, as an example.

To help with this project, donations are needed including money and items that can be used for maintenance and upkeep like garden tools and yard equipment. Visit their website at PromisePointe.org or on their Facebook page.
