Victoria City Officials May Hire Funding Specialist to Help Residents get Harvey Help
It's been nearly a year since Hurricane Harvey devastated communities in south Texas, but many residents are still trying to get relief assistance from FEMA and other organizations, and the City of Victoria may be about to get some extra help.
The process for city governments to get assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other federal and state agencies is confusing and tedious, resulting in some requests being turned down, so Victoria City Councilors are considering hiring an expert to help oversee the process, and assure that it's done correctly. This could alleviate a lot of red tape and help get city government facilities repaired or rebuilt more quickly.
City councilors will address that issue at tomorrow's regular meeting. The city wants to start a number of projects including enhancing generators that can operate during emergencies, and improving drainage around the city.
