How safe do you feel living in Victoria? Personally, I feel pretty safe. Being in media and having had contact with area law enforcement on a professional level, I know we have some of the best, most conscientious officers in the business working to protect us every day. But according to a new study by the website Safehome.org, Victoria is only the 42nd safest city out of 65 ranked cities in Texas with populations of at least 50,000.

By analyzing crime statistics from 2014 and 2015 the City of Victoria Police Department reported to the FBI, the website came up with the ranking, which also takes into account statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau including population density, population trends, unemployment, median income and level of education.

Victoria Police chief J.J. Craig said it's not helpful comparing cities in this way, except in order to learn how from other cities hot to be more effective fighting crime , adding that since each city is different, and it's not really comparing apples to apples.

The website ranked Flower mound as the safest city in the state and Lubbock as the least safe.
