Scrolling through social media, I saw a video that blew me away.  Eddie Gonzalez joined Grupo Vida on stage for an electric performance and Market Square absolutely lost their minds. SEE THE VIDEO BELOW.  For those of you that don't know, Grupo Vida performances are rare these days as group leader, Jason Martinez, turned his focus to a Country and Variety band Jase Martin and it is absolutely fantastic.

ALWAYS A HIGH ENERGY SHOW:

However, even in his new band Martinez still features members from the legendary, Grupo Vida. So from time to time, they do pull out an old-school Vida performance.  It feels like this was one of those things that was just meant to happen!  They already had Fiesta booked and wanted to do something different. If you have seen Vida live, you know that they are always about energy and 'shock value' It has been more than 25 years since Eddie Gonzalez had played with this series of Grupo Vida. As soon as he hit the stage, it was like they did not miss a beat!

GRUPO VIDA HAS A MASSIVE HISTORY:

People don’t realize how many groups and artists have come out of the Vida organization. Art And The Jukebox Preachers, Sunny Sauceda y Todo Eso, Manny Gonzalez y Su Grupo, Eric “El Chavalon”, Chris Perez y La Union Dorada, along with many others have started their own successful groups. Much love and success to all of them, Martinez, says.

YOU GOTTA TAKE IT BACK TO THE ROOTS:

As the interview continued, Martinez, 'touring the Country as Jase Martin now. It’s nice for some of us to come together to have a little fun and play the music we all grew up with.' I will say that backstage was quiet. I could feel the nerves in the guys. But once we were up there together, it was like riding a bike for them. Eddie has lived in such a fast-paced world musically, so bringing tempos down and keeping it solid we’re important. We all had fun and hope everyone else did too! A big thank you to Tim Villanueva, Steven Gonzalez, and Joel Vasquez for providing one hell of a musical foundation for the show. John and Raul for running backstage. All I can say is Grupo Vida, Manny Gonzalez band, Eddie Gonzalez, and The Jase Martin Band…. one hell of a combination! One hell of a show! If you were there, you witnessed history!
