A RECIPE FOR RELAXATION

Basically, it's safe to say, get ready for some pretty heavy rainfall today. Take advantage of the weather and bust out the pot to make some good old fashion soup, or my favorite arroz con leche- which essentially is just rice and milk, but this weather adds some secret ingredient to the concoction that makes it the perfect hearty meal for stormy days.

BE PREPARED

Weather like this reminds us all to double-check our emergy kits. Make sure you are stocked up on items like flashlights, batteries, a first aid kit, and water. The American Red Cross has a list of essential items you should keep handy in case of emergencies, flash floods included! You can even take this quiz to see how prepared you are.

WELCOME TO TEXAS

My nephew from Los Angeles flew down this week to visit me, and it is his first time in Texas ever. We decided to go eat and go bowling the evening before the storm, but our bowling got cut short when the power started flickering off. As we made our departure from the bowling alley, we were hit with massive raindrops and strong winds. My nephew was in disbelief; he has never seen REAL Texas rain, only light California drizzles.

We slowly stopped by a corner store to buy some batteries, flashlights, and other emergency goodies for a potential power outage. When we get back to my home, we had to swim through the parking lot. The water was up to our knees! It was insane; he was still in shock as we finally made it inside; I just smiled and said, "Welcome to Texas."
