Houston Texans Beat NY Jets, Earn First-Round Bye in Playoffs
Despite the fact that the Houston Texans faced a hungry New York Jets team that almost got the best of them on Saturday, the Texans managed to put it together and pull out a 29-22 win, giving them a #2 seed in the playoffs, a first-round bye, and home-field advantage, maybe even throughout the playoffs. The home field advantage may change depending on who they face in the AFC Championship game and, the Texans may get a #1 seed depending on how well the Kansas City Chiefs play in their next 2 games.
Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold was elusive completing 24 of 38 for 253 yards and 2 TDs, while Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was 22 of 28 for 239 yards and 2 TDs, including the game-winner to Deandre Hopkins late in the game.
While the Texans defense struggled a bit throughout the game, defensive end J.J. Watt still managed 6 tackles, 2 for a loss, 2 QB hits and a forced fumble. The win marked the first 10-win season under head coach Bill O'Brien.
The Texans now face the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday at 12:00 noon, pregame begins at 11:30 am on KLUB Classic Rock 106.9.
