Houston Texans Win Streak Comes to an End
9 games...that's pretty impressive for a win streak in the NFL, and that's where it ended yesterday at the hands of divisional rivals the Indianapolis Colts 24-21.
The Texans had trouble defending the long pass from Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck, and the Texans defensive line had their own challenges, as both J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney faced double team after double team. The game was close throughout and near the end with only 2 minutes left, the Texans had a chance to stop the Colts who were at midfield on a 3rd and 1, and were trying to draw the Texans offsides. That's when defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney jumped too soon, giving the Colts a fresh set of downs, and control of the game.
The Texans faced a fired up Colts defense and were only able to muster 89 yards on 25 carries on the ground. Deshawn Watson threw for 267 yards in the game. Despite the loss, the Texans still hold first place in the AFC South at 9-4 while the Colts are in second at 7-6.
Ironically, it was the game against the Colts on September 30th when the Texans began their 9-game win streak. Next up, a rare Saturday appearance when the Texans head to the east coast to go up against the 4-9 New York Jets.
